We don’t know much about the new Nikon mirrorless system, other than what’s in the press release below. It’s going to be full frame and use a new mount system other than the F-mount (but it will have an adapter available).
Personally, I’m excited for any new Nikon camera but with the advances that Sony has been making lately, it’s been making me think twice about sticking with the brand that I love so much. Now with the tease of a new Nikon system that will allow me to use the lenses I already own and will likely at least have most of the tech that a D850 has… I got to say I’m ecstatic.
The big question for me now is – will I be able to afford it. Sony just dropped their full frame 4k mirrorless Alpha a7 III at an enticing $2k. A price that is pretty damn amazing for any new DSLR with 4k video but especially for a full frame camera with the specs that it has.
So I guess that all we can do at this moment is refresh NikonRumors and the Nikon PR sites and wait for the news to drop. Well, that’s all you can do unless you’re Tony Northrup who took the brief moment that we actually see the Nikon Mirrorless on their promotional video and tried his best to make some intelligent guesses at what the camera might actually have. You can watch his take on it below. Personally, I wouldn’t be too surprised if the camera in the video is just a very early model that might not be anything like the finished product.
