News: Nick Ut Retires
Nick Ut, most well known for his “Napalm Girl” photo, is retiring. Let’s talk about his career, his work, and when we’ll retire and what we want to do when or if we retire.
Topic 1: Adobe Releases One-minute Video Tutorials
In a world filled with overly long tutorials that never get to the point, let’s take a moment to recognize Adobe for their use of brevity to get across important information. We’ll talk about the videos they’ve created and our favorite tutorial videos, and sources for tutorial videos, and education resources in general.
Topic 2: Shooting Parades
St. Pattie’s Day just passed and with it the obligatory parades. How do we shoot parades? What are our favorite parades to shoot? Is there anything we do to spice up our parade shoots?

David, I was literally yelling at the top of my lungs listening to your fantastic podcast today (until you asked the question that I wanted to ask). I take issue with B.P. when saying “I think he only won one Pulitzer”. Well multiple winners don’t grow on trees. And I bet a number of PHOTOJOURNALISTS don’t go out shooting to win the award. People have to remember that in that era he wasn’t freelancing he was on assignment. He took pictures where he was assigned by the AP desk of course a lot is luck. It’s not like a lot of journalist today who work on “their” projects and go where “they” feel they can have impact by telling the story. *Disclaimer: I know Nick and he gives his time freely to any and everyone. That dude is everywhere. Still working. Still shooting. Two heavy Canon rigs around his neck, press passes, credentials and ID’s in full view. And an old timey photo vest! When I think of Eddie Adams I think of ONE photo and his workshops! And then to try to juxtapose landscape photographers vs journalist, to me was a wrong choice. I would bet, from his peers, the editors and the assignment desk his career like many other photojournalist that we have no idea who they are was gold… even without “that” picture. And then you stepped in and made sense. Thank you. (My Rant!)
