News: Bob Adelman’s Work Goes to Library of Congress
Famous civil rights photographer Bob Adelman recently had his collection go to the Library of Congress. We talk about his work and what we need to do to get our work in the library of congress.
Topic: Staging Photos
In the linked story the photographer is more than likely, using staged photos to illustrate the size difference between the set and the creator. This is a cardinal sin of photojournalism. You never stage your photos, ever, but is there ever a reason you think it would be alright to stage a photo? And if so, could you get away with it if you just mentioned in the caption that the photo was staged? Also, what should we do about people who stage their work? It’s not against the law, just unethical, but is there something we can do that is more impactful than just public shaming.
