Earlier today, AP photographer Burhan Ozbilici captured a moment that defines 2016 in Europe possibly better than any image taken so far this year. A well dressed man holds a gun to the ground, finger off the trigger but with his other hand pointing to the sky. The body of his victim, the Russian ambassador to Turkey laying dead on the floor beside him. In video that was also captured at the scene the shooter, identified as a Turkish police officer, yelled “don’t forget about Aleppo, don’t forget about Syria.”
The shooting happened at a photo show in Ankara, Turkey called “Russia as seen by Turks”.
